The NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) covers principles relating to Health and Safety, Identification and Control of Workplace Hazards and the Practical Application of this Knowledge. The IGC syllabus takes a Risk Management approach based on best Practice and International Standards, such as the International Labour Organization (ILO) Codes of practice. Local Laws and Cultural factors may form part of the study Programme where relevant and appropriate.
Candidates Suitable for the Course – The International General Certificate is suitable not only for those already in HSSE fields or those embarking on a Career in Health, Safety, Security & Environment, but also generally, all those working in Engineering & Construction Companies, Oil & Gas Industries, Mines, Aviation, Marine, Medical, Transport & Fire Fighting departments, Logistics, Food and Beverages, different sectors of Manufacturing Companies, and every other workplace where people or property happen to be, as Safety is everywhere, including the School, Church & Home Environments.
Qualification – No previous health and safety knowledge is required, though it serves as an added advantage to one who already has that knowledge. The Course is offered in English, and no previous Minimum qualification is necessarily required for one to be enrolled.
Course Components – The Course is divided into three units, each of which is assessed separately:
- Management of International Health and Safety (IGC1)
- Control of International Workplace Hazards (IGC2)
- International Health and Safety Practical Application (IGC3)

Certification – Certificates come from the Nebosh Examining Body in UK. Results take about 12 weeks (after the Exam) to be out.
