ISO 45001 Internal Audit Training:

The ONE day Internal audit training of FIVE was conducted to provide insight on Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) and how as an auditor to examine the effectiveness of their Organisation’s HSMS and where needed to improve its efficiency. The session covered key topics on internal audit training which includes fundamental auditing principles and practices; procedures for internal auditing; interpretation and understanding of ISO 45001: OHSMS; how to plan, conduct and follow-up auditing activities that add real value; techniques on auditing.

The morning session was most on theoretical aspects of the internal audit topics where we had profound discussion on the HSMS and how to carryout gap analysis to compare the current & target situation. The post lunch session was more on discussing real time scenarios on audit and how to abide by the audit principle as stated in ISO 19011 ‘Guidelines for Auditing Management Systems’.

General Awareness Training:

Employers have a legal responsibility to provide key safety information to their workers; they need to understand Health & Safety basics in the workplace. In order to fully understand the H&S issue they need to be familiar with the technical background to the issue and have relevant knowledge on standards that apply to the workplace and possible strengths and weaknesses of the various options available to solve the problem.

The training introduces the participants to many aspects of the Health & Safety at Work and is intended to help raise safety standards and awareness. It was divided into two parts; the first part is about management of health & safety with detailed discussion on the concept of health & safety management system, hazard identification & risk assessment, permit-to-work systems and incident investigation.

The second part of training started with Introduction on 5S & housekeeping on how to organize a work space for efficiency and effectiveness by identifying and storing the items used, maintaining the area and items, and sustaining the new order. The training further continued with enlightening the participants on different hazard categories (physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic and psychological) and controls on how to minimize risks from those inherent hazards in the workplace.
